FAQ

Isn’t the vagina self-cleaning? Why do I need a cleanser?
While the vagina cleans itself, the vulva does not, which is where FemiClear Feminine Wash comes into play!

For vaginas, it’s all about a balanced diet, vagina friendly probiotics, and good personal hygiene that does not include:
• douching
• harsh soaps
• chemicals

As for the vulva, it needs safe and external cleansing to protect the vaginal environment. FemiClear Feminine Wash is designed to maintain good bacteria during cleansing instead of disrupting vaginal flora.

What's the difference between the vagina and the vulva?
The vulva encompasses all of the external organs, including the pubic mound, the labia majora and minora, the clitoris, the external openings of the urethra and the vagina. The vagina, on the other hand, is the internal muscular canal that leads to the cervix (the opening to the uterus).

Our FemiClear Feminine Wash is for external use only.

What's the difference between the FemiClear Feminine Wash and other cleansers?
Our formula features ingredients that help soothe itching, calm irritation, moisturize, and help balance vaginal pH levels. It also contains a prebiotic to support healthy bacteria and is contains NO artificial fragrances, sulfates, parabens, or dyes.

Other feminine cleansers typically include ingredients that contain fragrances, parabens, and sulfates that can throw off your vaginal microbiome, leading to overgrowth of yeast or bacteria.

When it comes to maintaining vaginal health, it's important to look for a cleanser with ingredients that can help support your vaginal health.

What causes temporary feminine odor?
Temporary feminine odor can be caused by perspiration, intercourse, your menstrual cycle, and even the use of some soaps or douches can disturb the natural vaginal balance. It’s also very common. If you are experiencing a strong "fishy" odor and abnormal discharge, see your healthcare professional as you may have an infection.

Why is vaginal acidity (pH) important and why does it matter in a feminine wash?
Healthy skin in the vulvovaginal area (the area just outside of the vagina) has an acidic pH in the range of 4 to 4.5. Anything greater than 5 is considered abnormal. These abnormalities could be due to bacterial vaginosis (BV) infection, trichomoniasis, menstruation. Semen, vaginal lubricants, medications, supplements, or menopausal state.

Regular soaps have a pH in the range of 9 to 10¹, which can be harsh on vulva skin. Feminine washes at the appropriate pH level will be the best for on the delicate skin of your vulva.

The acidic vulvovaginal environment helps suppress the overgrowth of abnormal bacteria. When abnormal bacteria overgrow or parasitic infections like Trichomoniasis happen, it results in abnormal vaginal activity. Yeast infections usually do not result in a change in vaginal pH.

A vaginal pH test can determine your vaginal acidity.

What’s the pH of the cleanser?
The pH of the cleanser is 4-4.5. A healthy vaginal pH can range anywhere between 4 - 6, as it's unique to each person.
Regular soaps have a pH in the range of 8 to 10, which can be harsh on vulva skin. Feminine washes at the appropriate pH level will be the best for on the delicate skin of your vulva.
